Watch: Rishabh Pant slammed three sixes in one over on his return to India colours in their T20 World Cup warm-up game against Bangladesh in New York today (June 1).

Rishabh Pant returns in India colours

Pant has not played for India in 18 months after he was injured in a car crash in late 2022. He underwent surgery for his injuries, including significant operations on his legs, and returned to professional cricket at the start of the 20224 IPL. After scoring 446 runs in the tournament in a remarkable comeback, he was selected for India's T20 World Cup squad, and flew out with the squad following the IPL final.

Three sixes off Shakib

In India's only warm-up game ahead of their tournament opener on June 5, Pant looked in aggressive mood. He whacked three sixes in one over off Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan, before retiring after reaching his half century. The first six was slog-swept over the square boundary on one knee, before he followed up off the next ball with a reverse behind square for another six.

After getting back onto strike for the final ball of the over, Pant once again went big, depositing a slot-ball over cow corner for a massive maximum. Later in his innings, he also struck Soumya Sarkar for consecutive fours, and heaved Mahmudullah for a one-handed six over the long on fence. He reached his fifty with a four down the ground off Shakib from 32 balls before retiring to give others a turn in the middle.

India posted 182-5 off their 20 overs, Hardik Pandya scoring 40 off 23 balls, including hitting three consecutive sixes, in a positive outing for the side ahead of the tournament. They will begin their campaign against Ireland in New York next week.
