Farooqi’s record-breaking five-for helps Afghanistan blow away Uganda

Dravid confirms T20 World Cup as his last assignment as India head coach

India head coach Rahul Dravid has confirmed that he will not reapply for the position when his tenure ends after the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The BCCI had recently rolled out a job advert for the next India head coach, and board secretary Jay Shah stated that Dravid could reapply.

While speaking to the media ahead of India’s tournament opener against Ireland on June 5, Dravid said, “I love doing the job. I've really enjoyed coaching India and I think it's a truly special job to do.

He added: “I enjoyed working with this team and it's a great bunch of boys to work with but yeah but just considering the kind of schedules [India have] and where I find myself in the stage in my life I don't think I'll be able to reapply.”

Rashid Khan: We have the batting line-up to chase 200-run targets

Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan feels they can regularly gun down targets over 200 in the ongoing World Cup. Historically, their bowlers have been mostly pivotal to their wins, but now Rashid believes Afghanistan has the batting firepower to complement that.

"In the past, we were struggling a little bit in the batting area," Rashid said. "Earlier our bowlers would do a lot more and help us win the games. Later, we got those young batters, especially from the Under-19 cricket, and the way they came up to the national side, and the way they have worked hard, they got the opportunity to play for Afghanistan at a very young age and then start exploring all around the world, playing leagues where they got better and better.

"I think we have that kind of batting line-up where we can say it's fine if there is a target of 200 as well on a wicket. We have that kind of ability and skills and talent that we can express on the ground and chase that."

Shaheen Afridi in talks with Global T20 after opting out of Hundred

Shaheen Afridi is in talks with Canada’s Global T20 League after opting out of the Hundred to spend time with his family. In the English competition last year, the Pakistan pacer took six wickets from six outings for the Welsh Fire. He was retained for £100,000 this season but has opted out of the tournament, the ECB confirmed on Monday.

The scheduling of both tournaments will likely clash, with the Hundred starting on July 23 and ending on August 18.

PCB to introduce Pentagular tournament from next domestic season

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wants to roll out the ‘Pentagular’ tournament across three formats from the upcoming domestic season. The five-team tournament will include the top 150 players in the country to bridge the gap between domestic and international cricket, as reported by ESPNcricinfo.

The report also added that the planning is still under process, and PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi has directed for its launch from the next domestic cycle. The competition will not be franchised as all teams will be operated and owned by the board
