England v India 2021: England Women player ratings for the T20I series

by Sarah Waris 4 minute read

England were on the top of their game as they defeated India in a tightly-fought three match T20I series 2-1. It was their fourth successive T20I series win over India, and here we take a look at the player ratings for the home side.

Danni Wyatt: 8/10

123 runs @ 61.50; SR: 138.20

The opener gave her side solid starts in the two games they won. After a crucial 31 in the opener, she roared back with an unbeaten 89 in the series decider to help England over the line.

Nat Sciver: 9/10

98 runs @ 32.66; SR: 153.12
3 wickets @ 17.33; ER: 5.20

The experienced all-rounder was in top form, with her batting heroics helping her side win two matches. In the first T20I, she combined with Wyatt to score 55 in just 27 deliveries, and then walked in after the early loss of Tammy Beaumont’s wicket in the third match to score 42. She also picked up important wickets with the ball.

Tammy Beaumont: 5/10

88 runs @ 29.33; SR: 101.14

Beaumont did score 59 in the second T20I, but her strike rate at the top of the order remains a worry. She batted for a total of 87 balls in the series, scoring 88 runs, and the side will want to see her aggressive side going forward.

Amy Jones: 6/10

54 runs @ 27; SR: 138.46

The wicketkeeper scored a crucial 43 in the first T20I off just 27 deliveries batting at number five, and helped her side to a match-winning total. She did not get a chance to bat in the third game.

Heather Knight: 3/10

42 runs @ 21; SR: 97.67

The skipper did not have the best outing with the bat, as she could only manage a high score of 30. However, some of her captaincy moves were inspired.

Katherine Brunt: 6/10

3 wickets @ 24; ER: 8

The experienced bowler leaked runs in the second game, conceding 11.33 runs an over — the most by any bowler from either side. She did manage to get under the skin of Shafali Verma, though, dismissing her twice in three games.

Sophia Dunkley: 3/10

5 runs @ 2.50; SR: 83.33

The youngster, who made her debut in the Test against India earlier, did not have the best outing as she could barely leave a mark. Dunkley was unfortunate to be run out in the second game after facing just four deliveries.

Mady Villiers: 5/10

1 wicket @ 33; ER: 6.60

The 22-year-old bowled just five overs throughout the series, and picked up the wicket of Shafali in the second game with a flighted delivery that tempted the batter to play to the leg side.

Sophie Ecclestone: 7/10

3 wickets @ 21.33; ER: 7.11

The bowler did not get a wicket in the first two games but picked up 3-35 in the last game. She constantly changed her pace and varied her lines, which made her a threat in the middle overs. She kept things tight as well, and outbowled rival Radha Yadav.

Sarah Glenn: 5/10

2 wickets @ 29.50; ER: 8.85

Glenn was the most expensive bowler from the England side in the series, with nothing much to write home about except her wicket of Harmanpreet Kaur in the first T20I.

Freya Davies: 2/10

1 wicket @ 70; ER: 7.77

The medium pacer dismissed Smriti Mandhana in the second T20I with a full ball from around the wicket.
