Alex Hartley will not have her England Women central contract renewed when it runs out in January.
The Lancashire left-arm spinner, who was part of the England side that beat India in the 2017 Women’s Cricket World Cup final, was told of the news earlier this month.
She has played in 32 matches for England since making her debut in June 2016, taking 42 wickets. Hartley did not feature for England across the home summer of 2019, with her most recent international appearance coming in the third ODI against Sri Lanka in March 2019.
Ali Maiden, England’s interim head coach, said: “Alex is undoubtedly a talented bowler and the door is absolutely never closed on her returning to the international stage.
