Watch: Yasir Shah produced a sumptuous leg-spinning delivery to dismiss Mohammad Imran as Balochistan registered their maiden Pakistan Cup triumph on Friday.
The dismissal took place during the first innings of the final of the Pakistan Cup between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. In the 43rd over, the former were tottering at 153-7 when Yasir weaved his magic. Against Mohammad Imran, he tossed up the ball deliciously on a length on middle and leg stump. The loop and the dip enticed the batter into a heave across the line – only for the ball to rip past his flailing bat and smash into the stumps.
Imran’s scalp was the fourth for Yasir in that particular innings. Prior to this wicket, he had gotten the better of Adil Amin, Kamran Ghulam and Mohammad Sarwar. The leg-spinner ended up with figures of 10-2-33-4 and was rightly adjudged the Player of the Match. His display also ensured that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were restricted to a paltry total of 171 – a target Balochistan hunted down with more than 18 overs to spare.
A few years ago, Yasir was touted for greatness and he began his Test career in stellar fashion. In recent times, though, he has not met the fitness standards the Pakistan national side have set, meaning that he has not featured for them since August last year. However, if he keeps producing such performances, it might be tough for Pakistan to keep overlooking him.
