Watch: Jonathan Trott did a David Warner way back in 2012, after smashing a ball that slipped from Ravindra Jadeja’s hands for a four.
During the fourth Test of England’s series with India in Nagpur, Trott’s sportsmanship came under question after the batter hit a ball that slipped out of bowler Ravindra Jadeja’s hands for a four. The ball bounced a number of times before reaching Trott, and the England player went on to hit a boundary off the no-ball after taking a few steps to his left, which did not go down well with the India fielders.
Off-spinner R Ashwin spoke about the incident following the day’s play, saying: “When you talk about gamesmanship, we think you should hold yourself to the standards you expect from the opposition.”
Earlier this week David Warner smashed a ball that bounced twice off Mohammad Hafeez’s bowling for a six during the T20 World Cup semi-final between Australia and Pakistan.
