After producing a peach to bowl out Jos Buttler, Shaheen Afridi dismantled the stumps again later in Nottinghamshire’s game against Lancashire, as he dismissed George Bell in the 2023 T20 Blast yesterday (June 4) at Trent Bridge.

Afridi is one of the deadliest first-over bowlers in T20 cricket currently as he has a habit of pinning batters on the pads/boots or uprooting their stumps with late shape on the ball.

Yesterday (June 4), he might not have got a wicket in the first over of the innings, but he did get a high-profile one in the fifth when he beat Buttler’s defences with a trademark inswinging yorker at pace.

If that was not enough, Afridi came back into the attack later in the innings and did some more stump-cleaning work. Bowling the 18th over, he cleaned up the young wicketkeeper-batter, George Bell, with a perfectly disguised slower ball, uprooting his leg and middle stumps in the process.

Afridi finished with figures of 2-25 from his three overs as Lancashire got bowled out 145 in the 19th over. Chasing a modest target, almost everyone chipped in with the bat for Nottinghamshire, as they won the game by five wickets and with seven balls to spare.
