Watch: Sarfaraz Ahmed and Shan Masood were involved in an ugly collision during the semi-final of the 2023 Pakistan Cup on Friday (November 17), which forced Masood, the newly appointed Test skipper, to walk off the field for treatment.
The second semi-final of the Pakistan Cup saw the Sarfaraz-led Karachi Regions post 280 on the board courtesy of 95 from young sensation Saim Ayub. The target for Multan was reduced to 273 in 41 overs due to the DLS Method, and they were in a spot of bother at 34-2, with the openers falling for 6 and 0.
Multan could have been three down for the score had the fielders held onto the catch of Sohaib Maqsood, who skied over the bowler’s head. He could not get enough power on his shot but he survived after both Masood and Sarfaraz ran to take the catch, eventually running into and over each other, with the commentator saying it was “very club-cricket-like.”
The ball was coming to Masood, who had his hands ready to latch on, before a running Sarfaraz crashed into him, causing both of them to fall to the ground. Masood tumbled and somersaulted over Sarfaraz and seemed to have injured his ankle in the process. He was seen limping off the field to get treatment.
Later, he was able to see the funny side of the incident.

Masood was named the Test captain on Wednesday after Babar Azam resigned from the role ahead of the Test series against Australia that begins on December 14.
Karachi ended up winning the clash by 43 runs and will play Peshawar in the final on November 19.
