Harare Hurricanes won the toss and elected to field in the Eliminator of the inaugural edition of the Zim Afro T10 League against Cape Town Samp Army. Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Karim Janat, and Sean Williams combined to help Cape Town reach a formidable total of 145-3 in their 10 overs.

In response, Harare captain Uthappa started with a bang, hitting a boundary off the first ball of the run-chase and followed it up with five boundaries in the second over off Mujeeb Ur Rahman.

He played shots all around the park, including lofts down the ground, swipes across midwicket, and cuts and drives through the off side. However, the one shot that stuck out was the reverse ramp he played on the fifth ball of the seventh over off left-arm seamer Richard Ngarava.

Uthappa had shuffled across and opened up his stance to play the scoop over fine leg, but Ngarava followed him and bowled a back of length ball outside his bodyline. Uthappa was up to the task, as he swiftly adjusted his hands, deflecting the ball over the wicketkeeper instead.

Uthappa eventually finished unbeaten on 88 off 36 balls at a strike rate of 244.44, having hit a total of eight fours and six sixes. His knock saw his side through to Qualifier 2, as they won the game by nine wickets with four balls to spare.

Unfortunately, though, Harare eventually lost the Qualifier 2 against Durban Qalandars and were not able to book a spot in the Final.
