Shaw, who was playing his second professional game after a lengthy injury hiatus, didn’t take time to get back amongst the runs, scoring his 13th first-class century against Chhattisgarh. Opening the innings for Mumbai, Shaw teed off from the word go, bringing up his fifty off just 43 deliveries, including eight fours and two sixes.
He required only 126 balls for his next 100 runs, smashing 10 more fours besides a six before being eventually dismissed for 159 off 185. This was his fourth 150-plus score in 80 first-class innings.
During his comeback innings, Shaw was seen in his usual free-flowing nature. He didn’t shy away from cutting, pulling and playing expensive drives against pacers while occasionally stepping out to spinners.
