Watch: Murugan Ashwin displayed excellent reflexes during the 2023 Tamil Nadu Premier League as he took a diving catch after running backwards from point on Sunday.

Playing for the Madurai Panthers, Ashwin made headlines despite his team losing to Dindigul Dragons in the TNPL for latching onto an outstanding catch to dismiss S Arun. Chasing 124 for a win, Dindigul lost their third wicket on the fourth ball of the fourth over of the innings when Arun tried to slash a length ball by Gurjapneet Singh. However, he was unable to get the desired elevation, with the ball landing near mid-off, where Ashwin grabbed onto a stunner.
Ashwin, stationed at point, kept his eyes on the ball as it was in the air, ran backwards with full pace and dived with both hands outstretched just as the ball was landing. It nestled safely into his hands as he completed a ‘Superman’ catch.
