Watch: Matt Renshaw, playing for Prime Minister’s XI, was credited with seven runs in the practice game against Pakistan on Friday (December 8) after the tourists conceded four overthrows, which also helped him reach his half-century.
Renshaw drove the fifth ball of the 78th over, bowled by spinner Abrar Ahmed, to deep extra cover, sending Mir Hamza on a stiff chase. Hamza managed to stop the ball just inches from the boundary rope, but the batters still had time to run three.
Upon picking up the ball, Hamza threw the ball to the Babar Azam, who collected it at the non-striker’s end. The former Pakistan skipper, however, then threw wildly to the wicketkeeper, with the ball missing both the stumps and Sarfaraz Ahmed, to reach the boundary.
Courtesy of the overthrows, Renshaw was credited with four more runs, with a total of seven runs being credited to his name.
Renshaw ended day three on 136*, leading his team to 367-4 in reply to Pakistan’s 391-9 decalred in the first innings.
