Watch: Rohit Sharma despatched a beamer from Vivrant Sharma for six during his crucial century stand with Cam Green in the MI v SRH IPL 2023 match.
In the ninth over of Mumbai’s chase, leg-spinning all-rounder Vivrant lobbed up a delivery high into the air, possibly losing grip of the ball. It was the easiest offering Rohit could get – a loopy beamer that came at shoulder height. The Mumbai Indians skipper stood in his spot and clobbered it over the deep mid-wicket fence for a six.
“Even Harsha [Bhogle] would have hit that,” chimed Kevin Pietersen in the commentary box.
“Thank you!” is all Bhogle, who never played cricket professionally, could reply.
Vivrant went for 19 runs in that over, and did not bowl again.
The six was the only one in Rohit’s innings of 56, with Green doing most of the damage and taking them past the finishing line with an incredible unbeaten century. The win took MI to fourth on the points table, with the final league game of the season, between RCB and GT, deciding who will take the fourth spot.
