The PSL encounter between Multan Sultans and Quetta Gladiators on Monday came to a thrilling conclusion, with the Sultans holding on in the final over to win by six runs.

After Multan put up a total of 174-4 in their innings, Quetta began the final over of their chase – to be bowled by David Willey –requiring eight runs and with two wickets in hand.

Naseem Shah and Sohail Tanvir were the two batters out in the middle and Willey was able to bowl two dots to the former before a single brought Tanvir on strike for the fourth ball of the over. The left-hander proceeded to find the hands of deep square leg, meaning seven runs were required from the final two balls of the over.

Back on strike, Naseem swung hard at the penultimate ball of the match and nearly sent the ball for six over Tim David at deep square leg, but the Singapore batter managed to hold on, throw the ball upwards while he jumped over the boundary rope to regain his footing, and jump back over to complete the catch on the field.

The catch sealed Multan’s third victory in three games of the tournament so far.
