Watch: Mumbai Indians teammate Harbhajan Singh and Ambati Rayudu had an on-field altercation during an IPL game in 2016 after a valiant effort from the latter wasn’t enough to prevent a boundary.

In the game against the now defunct Rising Pune Supergiant, a Harbhajan delivery was smashed to deep midwicket by Saurabh Tiwary. Rayudu ran in to put in a full-length dive but could not prevent the ball from going past the ropes.

A miffed Harbhajan was seen throwing words at his teammate in frustration. It clearly did not go down well with Rayudu who charged angrily at the veteran India spinner. It was Harbhajan who tried to cool things down as he put an arm around Rayudu’s shoulders, but the Hyderabadi would have none of it and shrugged off the twirler.

Two years later, with both playing for Chennai Super Kings, the incident was pushed aside as water under the bridge. The duo spoke of getting caught up in the heat of the moment and shared their admiration for each other in Harbhajan’s show, Bhajji Blast.

Harbhajan spoke of Rayudu as the “only one man who has fought” with him in the show and Rayudu spoke of apologising multiple times for the incident later.
