Watch: Rassie van der Dussen was dismissed in bizarre fashion in South African domestic cricket, bowled between his legs by Simon Harmer, who went on to take 14 wickets in the game.

It comes as little surprise that Harmer is leading the wicket-taking charts in South Africa’s four-day franchise series this season. After just three matches, he has amassed 20 wickets at an average of 18.40. What is surprising though is that 70 percent of those wickets came in one match.

Harmer had an absolute stormer for Titans against Lions in a ten-wicket win. Essex’s overseas player took seven wickets in each of Lion’s first and second innings, finishing with match figures of 14 for 151 across the 66 overs he bowled, which included 25 maidens. One wicket more, and he would have taken 50 percent of all wickets taken in the match, including his own team’s.

A video of the dismissals of fellow South African internationals Rassie van der Dussen and Reeza Hendricks in the second innings has been posted to Twitter, and Harmer’s dismissal of the former caught the eye in particular.

With the off spinner coming round the wicket to the right-handed van der Dussen, the batter chooses to leave the ball, expecting it to slide way down past off stump. The ball instead gripped and turned dramatically, hitting the inside of his back leg outside off stump, before ricocheting onto the stumps. Van der Dussen stood there aghast, staring at the stumps in disbelief over what had just happened.
