Sanju Samson’s brutal assault towards Rashid Khan, where he hit the Afghanistan leg-spinner for three consecutive sixes, kickstarted an astonishing comeback that saw Rajasthan Royals successfully haul down 112 from the final eight overs in their game against Gujarat Titans.

After Hardik Pandya and Mohammed Shami reduced Rajasthan to 4-2 in their chase of 177-7, Samson’s side were up against. After those two early wickets the Royals, through Samson and Devdutt Padikkal, rebuilt the innings but in a manner that saw the asking rate soar.

12 overs into the run chase, Rajasthan were 66-4 needing 14 runs per over from the final eight overs as Rashid came on for his third over.

After defending the first ball of the over, Samson smashed Rashid for three sixes in a row to kick the Royals run chase into gear.

That over brought the asking rate down to 13.14 runs per over and from there on, the Royals never looked back. Samson fell for a 32-ball 60 while Hetymer finished unbeaten on 56 from 24 deliveries to continue is superb recent IPL form.
