Watch: Same Batter, Same Delivery, Same Celebrappeal - One Day After Hooping Inswinger LBW, Darren Bravo Strikes Again
by Wisden Staff 3 minute read

Watch: Darren Bravo has taken his second first-class wicket in as many days after bowling another hooping inswinger to Kevlon Anderson, sparking another jubilant celebration.

Bravo really is on fire with the ball at the minute. He’s finding the kind of swing tat made Wasim Akram famous, and has increased his first class wicket tally by 50 per cent in 24 hours. He has also found his muse in Anderson, who is now the unfortunate owner of the title “Bravo’s bunny”.

In the first innings of Trinidad and Tobago’s West Indies Championship fixture against Guyana, Anderson had the misfortune of facing one of Bravo’s booming inswingers. Bending like a banana, the ball looked heading well down the offside before it curved dramatically inwards and thumped into Anderson’s front pad.

Bravo’s celebration was almost as good as the wicket itself. He wheeled away without turning back to look at the umpire’s decision, his arms outstretched.

The dismissal didn’t stop Guyana registering a huge first innings lead of 164. But when Anderson came out to bat again, Bravo was fixated on his man. Bustling in, he got the ball to hoop in to the batter once more, Anderson playing all around the delivery. With the ball snaking in-between bat and pad, Anderson got the finest of inside edges. Bravo watched in anticipation as the ball lobbed up to the keeper. Once the catch had been taken, Bravo sprinted out of shot triumphant.

Anderson was left on his own at the crease, staring at the umpire in hope that his finger would stay at his side. But, as the arm rose up from behind the non-striker’s stumps, Anderson had to trudge off.

Anderson now accounts for a third of Bravo’s first-class wickets, which he has taken at 39.25 apiece. In his 56 Tests Bravo only bowled one over, and didn’t take a wicket. Maybe the West Indies have missed out on a box-office all-rounder.
