Watch: Pakistan skipper Babar Azam was cleaned up by a Mehidy Hasan Miraz ripper which held its line, sending the fans – and commentator Athar Ali Khan – into a frenzy.

Pakistan collapsed dramatically on day three of the first Test against Bangladesh. A strong opening partnership had helped take them to 145-0, but they soon lost two wickets to Taijul Islam’s spin. Still, Pakistan had eight wickets in the bank, and most importantly they had a set Abid Ali joined in by their finest batter, Babar.

Together the two started the reconstruction job for Pakistan. But Mehidy Hasan had different ideas. In the 73rd over, he got one to hold its line, with the quick delivery beating Babar’s defences. The ball clipped the top of off-stump, and the Pakistan skipper was bowled.

The Bangladesh players and the crowd were ecstatic at getting the wicket of Pakistan’s star batter, and Athar Ali Khan could hardly contain his joy.

“What a delivery!” he said. “A little bit quicker, he is disappointed but he has to go. Have a look at this! It was little bit fuller and it went the other way! That is a brilliant piece of bowling, something new that I’ve seen from Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Wow! What a delivery to knock the off-stump back. Gone for 10. Bangladesh really doing well, Pakistan 169-3!”
