19-year-old Hunain, Naseem’s younger brother, made his first-class debut last year as an 18-year-old in the 2022-23 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. Playing his eighth first-class game today against the Karachi Whites, he struck with his first ball of the match, dismissing Saim Ayub, the 21-year-old left-handed opener who made his international debut earlier this year and was recently in red-hot form at the Caribbean Premier League.
Hunain came on to bowl the second over of the match, taking the new ball. With an action not much different from that of his elder brother Naseem, he landed the ball on a good length around middle stump and got it to swing back sharply into the left-hander from over the wicket.
Ayub was caught on the crease and was beaten for both pace and swing, with the ball beating the inside edge of his bat and striking his front pad. It didn’t take much time for the umpire to raise his finger and Ayub had to go for a golden duck.
