Bumrah, who’s gone wicketless in three out of MI’s previous four fixtures this IPL, finished with steady figures of 4-0-28-1 on an evening where Punjab’s batters neared an innings run-rate of 10, finishing on 198-5.

Bumrah’s sole wicket came in the form of Liam Livingstone, Punjab’s No.4, who faced two deliveries before falling to Bumrah’s third of the over, a searing yorker that flew past his bad and pads, and took out his leg stump. The seam was upright, the angle was difficult to put away, and the pace was just enough to beat Livingstone, all combining to give Mumbai their third wicket, with the score then reading 130 in 13.4 overs.

The single-digit score on Wednesday notwithstanding, Livingstone has looked in good touch so far in the tournament, bringing up back-to-back fifties in his last two games – 64 and 60 – against Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings respectively.
