McCoy replaces Holder in West Indies squad

Left-arm seamer Obed McCoy has replaced former West Indies captain Jason Holder in the T20 World Cup squad. Holder sustained an injury during the ongoing County Championship season which has forced West Indies to name a replacement.

Team India leaves for the USA in phases

The first batch of India players, including captain Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid left for the USA on Saturday (May 25). Others, including Virat Kohli, are set to join the squad in the next few days.

PCB dismisses rumours of Shaheen rejecting vice-captaincy

Reports emerged on Saturday (May 25) that Shaheen Afridi was offered the vice-captaincy of the T20 World Cup side by the PCB, an offer which he rejected. However, the board released a statement saying that no such offer was made: “It was unanimously decided not to appoint anyone [as vice-captain]. As such, no offer was made to any player. The side is fully united, committed and keenly looking forward to the upcoming matches in the UK and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.”

USA register historic series win vs Bangladesh

Playing Bangladesh for the first time in men’s senior international cricket, USA produced two back to back victories in the first two games of the three-match series, played entirely in Houston, to secure a historic first series victory against a Full Member nation. Bangladesh came back to win the final game comfortably by ten wickets, but USA had rested several key players and will now head into the T20 World Cup with an air of confidence that can result in similar upsets.

Lamichhane denied USA visa

Sandeep Lamichhane, who was recently acquitted of rape by a Nepal high court, was denied a US visaas the Nepal Cricket Board tried hard to get him into the T20 World Cup squad. Nepal will now be without their leading wicket-taker in international cricket.
