Watch: Vishnu Solanki hits a helicopter shot six off final ball to win Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy game

by Wisden Staff 2 minute read

Watch: Vishnu Solanki was the star of the day in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy game against Haryana as he hit 15 off the last three balls, including a helicopter six off the final ball, to seal a win for Baroda.

A stunning finish in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on Wednesday saw Vishnu Solanki emerge as the star as he smashed two sixes and a four off the last three balls to take Baroda home against Haryana.

Chasing 148 for a win, Solanki walked in at No.3 and blasted a quickfire half-century. But it still was an uphill task for Baroda heading into the final over where they needed 18 runs to win.

Sumit Kumar dropped Solanki off the second ball of the over after the first delivery yielded just one run. Haryana wouldn’t have imagined that the dropped catch would cost them the game at that point of time.

With 15 runs needed off the final three balls, Solanki hit a six and a four to bring the equation down to five runs to win off the last delivery and a four to tie. Nerveless under the pressure, Solanki blasted the last length delivery over long-on with a MS Dhoni-esque helicopter shot to seal the game for Baroda.
