Watch: Nepal’s Dipendra Singh Airee became only the third batter to smash six sixes in an over in T20Is, achieving the feat in the ACC Men’s T20I Premier Cup clash against Qatar today (April 13).
The 24-year-old, who smashed a nine-ball fifty in the format last year, added another incredible achievement to his career when he hit six successive sixes against Qatar today. Airee had hit six sixes in a row spread across two overs during his record-breaking knock against Mongolia last year and did an encore in Al Amerat, only this time hitting all maximums in one over.
Aerie was on 28 off 15 balls before the start of the last over of Nepal’s innings against Kamran Khan and ended on an unbeaten 64 in 21 deliveries. The first six was sent over deep mid-wicket, which was followed by an astonishing helicopter shot on the off-side. Airee stretched towards the fuller ball outside the off-stump and sliced it over backward point for a sensational hit.
The fourth ball was another helicopter shot, with Airee sending the full delivery over long-off. He ended with two more sixes, both over mid-wicket, which allowed him to join Yuvraj Singh and Kieron Pollard as the only batters with six sixes in an over in T20Is.
