India to host 2021 T20 World Cup, 2020 event postponed to 2022

by Wisden Staff 2 minute read

The 2020 T20 World Cup in Australia will be rescheduled for 2022, with India hosting a T20 World Cup in 2021 as originally planned.

The former event was recently postponed due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, but it was undecided whether it would be pushed back to 2021, with the India edition also being postponed until 2022, or if the Australia tournament would be delayed for two years.

The ICC have now confirmed that they have settled on the latter option. They also confirmed that the 2021 Women’s World Cup, to be held in New Zealand, will be postponed until 2022.
