Michael Vaughan has been impressed by Umran Malik, the India speedster capable of bowling at more than 150kph, but believes that a stint in county cricket could help in his development.
Malik, who was retained by Sunrisers Hyderabad for IPL 2022, is already one of the fastest bowlers in India. However, though he has sent down deliveries in excess of 150kph this season, the Jammu and Kashmir player has picked up only three wickets this season in four matches, conceding at 10.42 runs an over.
Former England skipper Vaughan is one of the many who have been left impressed by Malik, and that he “will play for India very soon” but thinks he should be groomed by playing county cricket in England this summer.
Vaughan tweeted: “Umran Malik will play for India very soon … If I was the BCCI I would be sending him to play some County cricket this summer to help him develop first though.”
