The scorer of over 11,000 international runs and the Player of the Match in two T20 World Cup finals, Marlon Samuels has enjoyed a thoroughly successful playing career. 

While Samuels is yet to formally announce his retirement from the game – it’s been more than a year since his last professional appearance – it appears that he has already turned his focus to a career in the music industry. 

Performing under the stage name Icon7, Samuels released a number of songs in 2018 that have amassed an impressive number of hits on YouTube with his most popular song, ‘Top Gyallis’, currently boasting over 400,000 hits. 

Names of Samuels’ songs include ‘Sextillionaire (Supa Rich)’, ‘Lyrical Scientist’ and ‘Spoon Head’.

After the release of ‘Sextillionaire’, Samuels told the Jamaica Star: “I have always been a fan of music growing up and part of that social scene. It feels normal for me to be at a studio. I have close friends that are a part of the music industry and I’ve gotten used to the setting.”
