England have brought in Jeetan Patel as a spin bowling consultant for their five-match T20I series against New Zealand in November.
The Warwickshire spinner, who is also contracted to Cricket Wellington, will miss his side’s first three matches in the Plunket Shield, having been given special dispensation.
“His role with England has the full support of New Zealand Cricket and Cricket Wellington and will develop Patel’s ambitions of becoming a coach once his playing career comes to an end,” the ECB said in a statement.
Patel played 78 matches for New Zealand from 2005 to 2017, taking 130 wickets.

England have two frontline spin options in their squad for the five-match series: leg-spinners Adil Rashid and Matt Parkinson.
The 39-year-old will join up with England’s squad in Christchurch next week. The T20I series will begin on November 1.
