Atlanta Riders posted 101-5 in the US Masters T10 match at Lauderhill after Robin Uthappa opted to bat. They were reduced to 19-3 before Hamilton Masakadza (43 in 25 balls) and Hammad Azam (38 in 16) added 74 in 32 balls.
Atlanta eventually finished on 101-5 despite Bipul Sharma’s 2-0-8-1 for the New Jersey Triton’s.
In response, New Jersey soon found themselves in disarray. Captain Gautam Gambhir fell first ball, to Kamrul Islam Rabbi, and Yusuf Pathan walked out inside the first over when Naman Ojha, the other opener, perished.
Kamrul pitched short, and Yusuf pulled for six. At the other end, Harmeet Singh took out Jesse Ryder and Cameron Delport, leaving New Jersey reeling at 11-4.
Kamrul continued. He took the pace off the fourth ball, but Yusuf went with the lofted on-drive. The bottom hand came off his bat, and the ball gathered more height than distance. However, such was Yusuf’s power that the ball comfortably cleared the boundary.
Yusuf eventually chopped one on to the stumps off Mohammad Irfan, for a 10-ball 18. The two sixes remained his only boundary hits.
New Jersey collapsed to 58 against Kamrul (2-20), Harmeet (2-9), Irfan (2-4), Elias Sunny (2-4), and Rayad Emrit (2-6).
