Watch: Derbyshire batter Leus du Plooy unleashed a deliberate back of the bat ramp off spinner Scott Steel during their T20 Blast fixture against Leicestershire on May 28.
Du Plooy, batting at six for Derbyshire, ended unbeaten on 38 off 29, helping them reach 159-5 from 20 overs. Among his four fours was an audacious ramp of an unusual kind – instead of turning his bat to make the face of it meet the ball, du Plooy used the outside half of his bat to tap the ball over the wicketkeeper’s head. Lewis Hill, behind the stumps, covered his face as he evaded the ball, but it comfortably flew over him to the boundary.
“You do not see that too often!”, remarked Nasser Hussain on commentary.
The score was enough for Derbyshire, as Leicestershire fell short of the 160-run target by 70 runs.
