Watch: Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan hammered Haris Rauf for twin sixes off consecutive deliveries during his match-winning unbeaten 41-ball 74 in the PSL 2024 curtain-raiser game against Lahore Qalandars.

On his comeback from an ankle injury, Shadab flagged off PSL 2024 in style with a brilliant all-round performance. After opting to field first, Shadab, with figures of 1-24 off his four, was the pick of the bowlers for Islamabad against Lahore, who racked up 195-5.

Chasing the formidable total, Shadab promoted himself to No.3 and bludgeoned his way to a 41-ball 74 runs knock. He hit four boundaries in addition to his five sixes, of which two came against Rauf off successive balls in the 17th over.

With 32 required off the last four overs, Shadab, batting then on 55 off 35 balls, welcomed Rauf, who had leaked 24 runs off his two, with a hoic over deep mid-wicket for a six. Rubbing salt to the injury, Shadab dispatched Rauf for another maximum off the very next ball. Rauf landed it on a length targeting the leg stump. Shadab made room and sliced it over cover.

Shadab’s blitzkrieg, aided by Salman Agha’s unbeaten 31-ball 64, helped Islamabad to gun down the target in 18.2 overs at the loss of two wickets.
