Imad Wasim caught smoking in dressing room in PSL final 2024

Watch: Imad Wasim was caught smoking in the Islamabad United dressing room by TV cameras, after he became the first player to pick up five wickets in a Pakistan Super League final.

Islamabad United became the most successful team in the history of the PSL after winning the 2024 final yesterday (March 18), and inflicting Multan Sultans’ third consecutive final defeat. With the scores level before the final ball of the match, Hunain Shah came to the crease and hit his first ball of the match for four to seal a thrilling victory.

Multan Sultans were defending a low total after they were restricted to 159-9 batting first. Wasim was instrumental in keeping the Sultans to a low total, taking five wickets, including two in two balls in his final over, to give him his second T20 five-for.

Imad got the ball rolling for Islamabad in his first over – the second of the match. He dismissed Yasir Khan with a back of a length ball in his first over, and got David Willey chopping onto his stumps three balls later, having been hit for a six by Willey off his previous ball. He then drew a top-edge from Johnson Charles in his third over, Naseem Shah taking the catch, before getting Khushdil Shah and Chris Jordan with consecutive balls in his final over. He finished his spell with figures of 5-23 off his four overs.

His work with the ball finished and still three overs left of the innings, Imad returned to the dressing room for a well-earned break. He used the opportunity to smoke a cigarette before preparing to bat. However, he was spied by cameras through the glass and immediately hid the cigarette as he realised he was on screen, looking sheepish.
