Watch: Shaheen Afridi cleans up Mohammad Rizwan with inswinger for trademark first-over wicket in PSL

Shaheen Afridi picked yet another wicket in the first over of a T20 clash as he dismissed Rizwan in the PSL

Watch: Shaheen Afridi lived up to his reputation as a first-over tormentor after he dismissed Mohammad Rizwan with a ball that swung back in to dismantle his stumps in the 2024 PSL clash today (February 27).

Shaheen, the skipper of Lahore Qalandars, gave his team the early advantage yet again as he dismissed his Multan Sultans counterpart Rizwan in the fifth over of Multan’s innings with a swinging delivery that came back in sharply. The good-length ball was pitched on the off stump and Rizwan, on the front foot, looked to drive it away for his first runs. However, he only managed an inside edge as the ball came back in sharply before it snuck past the bat-pad gap and onto the leg stump.

Shaheen has made it a habit of picking up wickets in the first over of the innings: This was his 27th wicket in the first over of a T20 match. He also has 13 wickets in the first over of a T20I. Shaheen has picked up eight wickets in the first over of an ODI while the number reads five in Test cricket.

Rizwan, who had scored 43, 82, 0 and 51 in his last four PSL matches was dismissed for another duck against Lahore. Shaheen, on the other hand, gave away 13 runs in his first two overs.

Lahore are currently at the bottom of the PSL points table and have not won a single game in five attempts while Multan are perched on top with four victories from five matches.
