Babar, who has been in brilliant form in the ongoing PSL and tops the run charts with 330 runs, could not get off the mark today (March 4) after a direct throw ended his innings prematurely. Needing 197 to win, Peshawar would have hoped for their skipper to show some of his recent form against Islamabad, but they were left disappointed as he was out for a golden duck while going for a tight single.

After playing out three dots at the start of the innings, Babar aimed to get off the strike defending the short-of-a-length ball by Naseem Shah to mid-on. Hales ran forward and was quick to the ball, picking it up and taking aim at the stumps. Babar did not put in the dive and was sent back, but was unable to make his ground before the throw dismantled the bails. He was out for his first low score of the tournament.

Babar scored a hundred in his last PSL innings and has two fifties in the competition so far. In his last nine T20 innings, Babar has crossed 30 each time, with seven forty-plus scores.

Peshawar were soon reduced to 3-3 and then 18-5 in the game.
