Watch: Ihsanullah bowled a 94mph rocket of a delivery to Matthew Wade which ripped his leg stump out of the ground after outpacing Wade’s attempted scoop shot in the PSL.
The delivery came when Wade was approaching his half-century, having made 46 from as many balls for Karachi Kings, who were on 148-2 in the 19th over. Ihsanullah’s first three overs had gone for 17 runs, and he had dismissed Tayyab Tahir with the final ball of his third.
With Wade on strike for the second ball of the final over, 20-year-old Ihsanullah sent down a 151kph missile. The ball angled across Wade from over the wicket, who attempted a scoop. But, with the ball zoning in on his off stump and coming at serious pace, Wade was far too late on the shot to get properly underneath and flick the ball away behind the wicket.
Having backed away and exposed all three stumps, the ball whistled past his bat and crashed into off stump half-way up, tearing the pole straight out of the ground. All Wade could do was tuck his bat under his arm and walk off the field. The fans cheered, more so because Wade had scooped Shaheen Shah Afridi with great success to knock Pakistan out of the semi-final of the 2021 T20 World Cup.
It was Ihsanullah’s 14th wicket of the PSL so far, from six games. Bowling with searing pace and accuracy,he has been the find of this edition for the Multan Sultans.
The rest of his final over against Karachi Kings went for four singles as he finished with figures of 2-22. Multan Sultans were set 168 to chase having opted to bat second, but an almighty collapse saw them lose eight wickets for 33 runs in their pursuit.
