Watch: Fakhar Zaman smashed ten sixes in a record-breaking PSL innings, including a huge leg-side slog into the crowd en route to a 45-ball 96.

Lahore Qalandars posted 241-3 with 18 sixes in their innings – the most for any team innings in the Pakistan Super League. Their total was largely thanks to destructive innings from Fakhar and Abdullah Shafique, as well as a 23-ball 47 from Sam Billings.

Fakhar was 15 off 16 balls before he scored his first boundary, clubbing a leg-stump ball from Rovman Powell over square leg for six. From then on, there was no stopping the opening batter. He hit another six, off Saad Masood this time, in the following over before also smashing Jimmy Neesham over the rope.

He brought up his fifty with another maximum off Masood, clearing his front leg and heaving a dropped short delivery over mid-wicket. He followed up two balls later with a huge blow over the same region, taking advantage of a drag-down from Masood to clear the fences and send the ball into the crowd.

Fakhar’s innings was even more impressive considering he seemingly injured himself turning to come back for another run. The niggle didn’t inhibit his six-hitting however, as he powered another four after the over in which he reached his fifty.

He hit 44 runs off 13 balls after reaching his half-century and was eying up another T20 century towards the back-end of the Qalandars innings, before falling agonizingly short. He spooned the final ball of another Powell over straight to Bhanuka Rajapaksa at cover four runs short of three figures.

Fakhar’s innings was the third-highest score of the 2023 PSL so far and Qalandars’ 241-3 is the third highest team score ever in the competition.
