None of the ten teams exhausted their full purse of INR 100 crore at the 2024 IPL auction. Here is what they were left with.

At the IPL 2024 auction, the ten franchises were allowed a purse of INR 100 crore to assemble squads of up to 25 players, including a maximum of eight overseas cricketers.

The record for the most expensive cricketer was broken twice over the course of the day. By gett Pat Cummins for INR 20.5 crore, Sunrisers Hyderabad went past Punjab Kings’ previous best of INR 18.5 crore, which they had spent on Sam Curran during the 2023 edition.

But even that paled in comparison when pitted against the INR 24.75 crore Kolkata Knight Riders put in to get Mitchell Starc on board.

Other nine-figure purchases came from Chennai Super Kings (Daryl Mitchell for INR 14 crore), Punjab Kings (Harshal Patel for INR 11.75 crore), Royal Challengers Bangalore (Alzarri Joseph for INR 11.5 crore), and Gujarat Titans (Spencer Johnson for INR 10 crore).

Despite these massive investments, none of the eight franchises exhausted their full budget. Rajasthan Royals came closest (they had INR 20 lakh left in their account), while Delhi Capitals (INR 9.9 crore) had the most left in account.

Rajasthan (22) and Kolkata (23) were the only franchises to have not reached the maximum possible squad size of 25 cricketers, though all franchises left the auction with eight overseas players.
