IPL 2023, Purple Cap leader: Updated list of highest IPL wicket-takers after today’s match

IPL 2023 purple cap - list of highest wicket takers in IPL 2023
by Wisden Staff 2 minute read

The Purple Cap is awarded to the highest wicket-taker every IPL season – here’s the list of chart leaders currently for the 2023 season, including previous winners of the award.

The Purple Cap is part of a standard set of honours presented every edition, alongside others such as the Orange Cap, Most Valuable Player, Player of the Tournament etc. A symbolic, purple-coloured cap is passed on from one player to another, usually after the game, and is worn on the field by the player who is leading the wickets column.

Dwayne Bravo, the leading wicket-taker of all time, also holds the joint record for the most scalps in a single edition (32 in 2013) – the same number taken by Harshal Patel (2021).

Every year, the top wicket-taker has taken at least 20 wickets, with Rajasthan Royals’ Yuzvendra Chahal ending with 27 wickets to top the charts. Bravo has won the Purple Cap twice. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is the only bowler to have won it in back-to-back seasons.
