by Wisden Staff 2 minute read

The IPL 2023 final on Sunday (May 28) in Ahmedabad is going to be a glittering night, with the BCCI planning a grand closing ceremony at the Narendra Modi Stadium right before the start of the final.

IPL 2023 saw the comeback of the opening ceremony after a five year absence. In it, Indian actors and singers including, but not limited to, Rashmika Mandhana and Arijit Singh performed live in front of a packed crowd at the Narendra Modi Stadium on March 31, before the start of the first game of the tournament between GT and CSK.

A similar grand evening is planned on the night of the final by the BCCI, with a closing ceremony expected to take place before the start of the game, along with some performances during the innings break. The venue and at least one of the two teams for the final (CSK) are the same as that for the first game of the season.
