Punjab Kings, earlier known as Kings XI Punjab, made their IPL debut in 2008, but have never won the league. Their best result was a runners-up finish in 2014.
Prior to the IPL 2022 auction, Punjab Kings had retained only Arshdeep Singh and Mayank Agarwal. Punjab Kings built their squad around some renowned names of the IPL.
