Watch: In the IPL 2021 game against RR on Thursday, Virat Kohli registered a spectacular six during RCB’s 10-wicket victory. Is the lofted drive is his most lethal and most underrated weapon?

While some of Virat Kohli’s shots, including his cover drive, flick and pull, are popular among cricket fans, the lofted drive he plays does not garner a lot of attention. However, it might just be the best shot he plays.

The lofted drive might be a fairly common shot in the sport, but it is mostly used to hit fours over mid-off. Virat Kohli, however, uses it stylishly to glide sixes over the head of long-off, in an almost effortless manner.

The shot is not guided by brute force, but exceptional timing, straight bat, still head and a big stride forward. He seems to play it when he’s at his best, turning defence into offence with just one shot.
