Watch: Sunil Narine had the perfect day in the field, smashing his first three balls for three sixes with the bat minutes after picking up 4-21 in the first innings against RCB in the Eliminator.
Narine played a pivotal part with the ball, helping restrict RCB to just 138-7 after a strong start from Virat Kohli’s side. He dismissed three greats of the format in Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Glenn Maxwell, as well as the highly rated KS Bharat in the do-or-die match on Monday. KKR’s Narine then played his part with the bat as well, taking three sixes off the first three balls that he faced. Walking out after the wicket of Venkatesh Iyer, KKR were in a spot of bother, at 79-3 in the 11th over, but Narine’s quick cameo helped reduce the equation for his team.
He pulled the first ball that he faced off the bowling of Dan Christian for a huge six behind square and continued his onslaught with two more sixes in the 12th over. The second maximum was swiped over square leg, with the third, a one-handed shot, hit to long-off as the equation reduced in an instanto 39 off 59 deliveries.
The over ultimately went for 22 runs. Given KKR eventually won with just two balls remaining, it was a crucial cameo. Narine hit more sixes in the game than everyone else in the game combined.
