Watch: Chetan Sakariya enjoyed an action-filled IPL debut with Rajasthan Royals, one that included a spectacular diving catch to dismiss the dangerous Nicholas Pooran first ball.

Sakariya, a 23-year-old left-arm seamer, impressed with the ball on debut even as the Punjab batsmen amassed a huge total of 221-6 from their 20 overs; finished his spell with figures of 3-31 from his four overs.

Here’s the complete IPL 2021 schedule, along with TV and live streaming details.

As well as his performance with the ball, Sakariya caught the eye with a stunning piece of fielding to see the end of Pooran for a golden duck. Fielding at short fine-leg, Sakariya dived well to intercept Pooran’s poorly executed pull shot. The catch was carefully checked by the third umpire before Pooran’s departure was finally confirmed.

His rise to IPL fame has been as meteoric as it’s been heartbreaking. A self-taught tennis-ball cricketer, Sakariya only had a handful of professional appearances to his name prior to his first season in the IPL. Shortly before the 2021 IPL auction, Sakariya endured family tragedy after his younger brother passed away.
