We’re into the knockout stages of the 2021 IPL, with the first qualifier match to take place on Sunday.

Here’s a look at how the 10 English players signed up performed in the UAE leg of the league stage, with a few of them still in with a shot of winning the whole thing.

Moeen Ali – Chennai Super Kings

7 matches, 98 runs @ 14, SR: 101 | 0 wickets, ER: 6.43

After impressing in the India leg of the tournament earlier in the year, Moeen has struggled to hit those same heights in the UAE; the same explosiveness hasn’t been there with the bat and he succumbed to a six-ball duck in his final innings of the league stage against Punjab Kings. He remains an economical presence when called upon with the ball but is still waiting for his first wicket since the tournament resumed last month. Still, with CSK finishing second in the league stage, he may still have an impact on what’s to come.

Sam Curran – Chennai Super Kings

2 matches, 4 runs @ 4, SR: 100 | 0 wickets, ER: 13.88

Two matches resulted in figures of 0-56 and 0-55, with a lower back injury then ruling him out of the tournament and the upcoming T20 World Cup too. A tough time for the all-rounder.

Eoin Morgan – Kolkata Knight Riders

7 matches, 32 runs @ 8, SR: 82.1

With the bat, Morgan has had a nightmarish time in the UAE, his highest score in the leg so far an unbeaten 13 in his side’s final match of the league stage. Take into account his performances in the India leg and the season record doesn’t improve a great deal: 14 league matches resulted in 124 runs at 12.40 and a strike rate of 102.47. Nonetheless, as captain Morgan has overseen KKR to their first appearance at the playoffs since 2018.

Adil Rashid – Punjab Kings

1 match, 0 wickets, ER: 11.66

The England leg-spinner was signed as a replacement for Jhye Richardson ahead of the UAE leg but endured a torrid IPL debut: he returned figures of 0-35 from three overs against Rajasthan Royals. He wasn’t to be seen again.

Chris Jordan – Punjab Kings

1 match, 2 wickets @ 10, ER: 6.66

Granted a run out in Punjab’s final match of the season and returned impressive figures of 2-20 as CSK were defeated by six wickets in a thumping win.

George Garton – Royal Challengers Bangalore

4 matches, 3 wickets @ 35.3, ER: 8.83

The Sussex man featured in four matches at the backend of the league stage as RCB secured a third-place finish. The one uncapped player on this list, the whippy left-armer can be erratic but helped seal qualification to the playoffs with an economical haul of 1-27 against Punjab Kings in a six-run win.

Liam Livingstone – Rajasthan Royals

5 matches, 42 runs @ 8.4, SR: 102.4

After a magical summer with England and Birmingham Phoenix, Livingstone was unable to get going in the IPL. A 17-ball 25 against Punjab Kings was promising but four single-figure scores followed.

Jason Roy – Sunrisers Hyderabad

5 matches, 150 runs @ 30, SR: 123.96

Drafted in to replace the out-of-form David Warner, Roy responded with a Player-of-the-Match performance in his first IPL game since 2018, striking 60 off 42 balls in a successful chase against Rajasthan Royals. Two low scores followed before he contributed to Sunrisers’ third and final win of the season, with his 38-ball 44 the highest score in a four-run win over RCB.
