The schedule for the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2020 has been announced, with every fixture set to be held in Trinidad & Tobago between the dates of August 18 and September 10.
Rather than being played all across the region, all CPL games will be held at two venues in Trinidad & Tobago, with the tournament starting and ending at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy and a section of games at Queen’s Park Oval in the middle. Only one country will see action to minimise the need for travel during the Covid-19 pandemic, with all games played behind closed doors in a bio-secure environment.
The Brian Lara Cricket Academy will host 23 fixtures in total, and the Queen’s Park Oval will host 10, with last year’s runners-up Guyana Amazon Warriors taking on Trinbago Knight Riders there in the opening game.
The play-offs will be a simple knockout system, with two semi-finals and then a final, rather than involving eliminators and giving the table-toppers second chances.
