Watch: Andre Fletcher takes two screamers in the BBL and brings out the moves

Andre Fletcher took two exceptional, game-changing catches in the Big Bash League on Monday, January 4 for Melbourne Stars in their close win against Hobart Hurricanes.

West Indies players have long been known for their dance moves and acrobatic fielding that produce game-turning moments. On Monday, Andre Fletcher produced an exhibition of all of this with two absolute stunners in the outfield in the Big Bash League game between Melbourne Stars and Hobart Hurricanes.

The Melbourne Stars had made 183 batting first, but a terrific half-century from Ben McDermott had kept the Hurricanes in the hunt. After 16 overs, the Hurricanes had 126 on board with McDermott joined by Colin Ingram. They needed 58 runs in four overs, but with two versatile batsmen at the crease, it wasn’t an impossible task.

Ingram slapped a six and a four in the 17th over before Fletcher produced a brilliant diving catch in the deep to send the Hobart Hurricanes middle-order batsman on his way. Ingram sliced a drive off Billy Stanlake to deep cover. Fletcher ran in quickly, but outran the ball, only to dive sharp to his right to complete a breathtaking catch.

McDermott, however, carried on, soon racing into the nineties with a towering six off Liam Hatcher. Off the final ball of the 19th over, the right-hander had a wide full toss outside his off-stump to deal with and he promptly smashed it to deep cover aerially.

It seemed headed for a six until Fletcher, running in from deep cover, intervened with a two-handed stunner diving to his left this time. The brilliant athleticism had changed the course of the match with the well-settled dangerman, McDermott, sent back on his way.
