Comilla Victorians openers Will Jacks and Litton Das tore into the Chattogram Challengers attack after the hosts opted to field at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.

They added 86 in 7.5 overs before Shohidul Islam (2-49) took out Victorians captain Das for a 31-ball 60 (nine fours, three sixes) and, with his next ball, Towhid Hridoy. Brooke Guest made only 11, but an unperturbed Jacks continued with the onslaught, taking 31 balls for his first fifty and 19 for his second.

Jacks finished on 108 not out from 53 balls (five fours, 10 sixes), added 128 in an unbroken fourth-wicket stand with Moeen Ali, who remained unbeaten on a 24-ball 53 (two fours, five sixes).

Comilla finished on 239-3, the joint-highest total in BPL history, along with Rangpur Riders’ 239-4 in 2019, against the same opposition at the same venue. This was also the first time three batters scored fifties for a team in the same BPL match.

Chattogram openers Josh Brown and Tanzid Hasan Tamim added 80 in 7.3 overs in response, while No.5 Shykat Ali smashed five sixes in 11 balls. However, they were bowled out for 166 in an attempt to keep up with the asking rate.

Rishad Hossain claimed 4-22, while Moeen got 4-23, including a hat-trick to end the innings. Jacks held five catches – a count equalled by 10 non-wicketkeepers but never bettered.

He also became the first cricketer to hit a hundred and hold five catches, while keeping wicket or otherwise, in the same Twenty20 match.
