Watch: Batter hilariously hits wicket in follow-through after reverse scoop in Bangladesh Premier League

Mohammad Naim hit wicket

Watch: Mohammad Naim was out hit wicket in comical fashion, attempting a reverse ramp off a short and wide delivery in a Bangladesh Premier League match.

In match 26 of BPL 2024 between Durdanto Dhaka and Comilla Victorians, Dhaka opener Mohammad Naim hilariously hit his own wicket after playing a reverse scoop.

On the fifth ball of the 17th over, bowled by Matthew Forde, Naim, who was batting on 64 off 44 balls, stretched out to play a reverse ramp off a slower bouncer that could have been a wide had he let it go.

Naim connected decently, getting it just past short-third, but in moving across to make contact with the ball, he lost his balance and smashed his own stumps with his bat in follow-through even as the ball raced towards the boundary.

This dismissal was in the same vein as that of Angelo Mathews’ in the one-off Test against Afghanistan where he had hit his own wickets after pulling a short ball by Qais Ahmed for four.

Naim’s contribution helped Dhaka to 175-4 off their 20 overs, but it didn’t prove to be enough as an unbeaten century by Towhid Hridoy took Comilla over the line in the run-chase with one ball to spare.

After 28 matches, Dhaka are languishing at the bottom of the table, having secured just one victory from nine games, while Comilla are at the second spot with five wins and 10 points from seven games.
