Watch: Kolkata Knight Riders captain Eoin Morgan departed without facing a ball against Rajasthan Royals on Saturday after succumbing to a hugely unfortunate run out.
The dismissal took place in the 11th over of KKR’s innings, with Chris Morris bowling to Rahul Tripathi. A straight drive from the right-hander was intercepted by Morgan’s bat at the non-striker’s end, cueing a mix-up between the two batters.
With the ball finding its way to Morris, Morgan was run out by a comfortable distance to leave KKR 61-4. The moment of misfortune continued Morgan’s struggle for runs at this year’s IPL: after five innings the England white-ball captain is averaging nine with the bat at this year’s tournament.
