The batting pair of Ellyse Perry and Rachael Haynes resumed at the crease in the morning with Australia on 265-3. Perry proceeded to advance to her second Test hundred – following on from her unbeaten 213 against England in 2017 – with a single off Nat Sciver, reaching the landmark from 246 balls.

The all-rounder added 16 to her total before she hit a full toss from Laura Marsh to Heather Knight at short mid-wicket to be dismissed in Test cricket for the first time since 2015.

Haynes was adjudged lbw for 87 to give Marsh her second wicket before lunch was called with Australia on 341-5.

Rain then halted the resumption of play till the day’s action was eventually called off.
